CPS at the GamiFIN 2022

Cheerful news again for our research group: the full paper “Reflection on the Octalysis framework as a design and evaluation tool” by Philip Weber, Laura Grönewald and Thomas Ludwig was presented by Philip Weber at the 6th GamiFIN conference (April 26-29).

The conference, originally planned for Finland, was switched to a complete digital format in February . After more than 2 years of the pandemic including various online conferences, the conference was very well organized and hosted across the board. Many of the presentations included interactive elements and due to a very engaged audience, many very engaging discussions arose.

Our submitted full paper reflects on the impact that the use of the Octalysis framework – as an exemplary gamification framework – can have on design practices. In addition to the results of a systematic literature review of the previous use of the framework, insights from real-world evaluation of the framework during a past class we taught are also published in the paper. At this point, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the involved students for their valuable reflections on the use of the framework!

The research was conducted as part of the ERDF-funded research project Rendezfood (EFRE-0801425) and is available here.
